José de Sousa Saramago, GColSE, was a Portuguese writer and recipient of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Literature. His works, some of which can be seen as allegories, commonly present subversive perspectives on historic events, emphasizing the theopoetic human factor. Wikipedia
José started his writing career in 1947 with a novel titled ‘Terra do Pecado’ (Land of Sin). In 1953, José wrote ‘Claraboia’ that was published as ‘Skylight’ in 2014. José published ‘Possible Poems’ in 1966 and ‘Probably Joy’ in 1970. José published ‘The History of the Siege of Lisbon’ in 1989 and ‘The Gospel According to Jesus Christ’ in 1991. In 1993, he published ‘In Nomine Dei’ and in 1995, José published ‘Blindness’.
